TRAINing Update

Here is an update on how the training is going here at Brentwood Baptist in the TRAIN Church Multiplication Residency.

The training continues to be exactly what I need it to be. It is holistic  While working on details and behind-the-scenes stuff for Sent Church, I am also being drawn nearer to God.

We recently spent time with Lance Ford. Lance is a leader among the church planting movement. He has written several books including, but not limted to "Right Here Right Now",  and "Unleader".
One of the things that sets this residency apart from many others is the opportunity to be with men like Lance.

Lance spoke to us about what it really means to be a leader. He spoke of being a servant. We looked at the life of Jesus and asked ourselves tough questions.

One of the things Lance encouraged us to do was to take a look at the language we are using in our church. Specifically as it has to do with titles. For example, many churches use the title "Senior Pastor". Jesus said that He is the head of the church, so that title may not be one we should use for pastors. We worked through the idea of why we need titles, and what they should signify.

Continue to pray for us as we continue to train and learn. God is at work and we are excited!
